Q: What is the story behind MikeRoweSoft?
A: We get this question a lot. Basically, Mike Rowe, the owner of MRStudios ran a company called www.MikeRoweSoft.com. It was his portfolio for the web design he had completed recently. Microsoft came across this site and demanded that Mike Rowe shut it down as it sounded too similar to their company name. After sending emails back and forth between lawyers, Mike Rowe decided to go to the media with his story. The story blossomed into a world-wide cover story. Microsoft began negotiating with Mike Rowe to see if they could end the situation as soon as possible. In the end, everything was settled. Mike Rowe learned that Microsoft wasn't such a bad company after all. He made a few visits to the Redmond campus and was impressed by the people who worked there.
